14 days until the days start getting longer again.

Thank goodness.

No wonder there is a festival of lights. No wonder there is a Christmas. No wonder there is great celebration at towards the end of December.

If I were an alien dropped off on this planet (specifically in the northern hemisphere), with absolutely no knowlege of earth customs, I would celebrate the winter solstice. Darkness at 4:30pm is just plain wrong... and any event that marks the beggining of the end of this darkness deserves to be celebrated.
